Blackburn College Fashion and Textile Show 2013

Last night I went to photograph a College fashion & textile show. It was a good experience to see how everything was organised and run. I managed to get some good images of the students garments.

Below are a few of my favourites.
Unfortunately the background is not ideal, yet this can not be helped when being run at a museum. However I have tried not to let it distract you from the garment.

I want to create some new business cards, that stand out a little more. Below I was having a play around with this logo and some of my recent images. Any thoughts or suggestions towards a new idea ?!

Behind the scenes

I recently went down to the streets of Blackburn to watch a new film being shot. These are a few photographs that I captured; behind the scenes.
This movie is a 70's based thriller about the battlefeild in Belfast during the height of the Northern Island troubles..... not sure when it is due to be released.

I preferred the images in black and white to give that sense of time.

Sunshine

Where has the sunshine gone?! One week of beautiful blue sky's and it's back to the usual rain.
I'm hoping we'll see more of it, everyone seems so much happier with a bit of warm weather.

These are a few photographs I managed to shoot whilst we had it nice.

 

 

The Final Degree Show

After three years of university and constant hard work, it was all worth while to reach to the final degree show. Everyone worked really hard to achieving their goals; proved in the extremely talented work this semester. The exhibition was a massive hit. It is safe to say that Bolton University's Photography class of 2013 can be proud of themselves.

These photographs capture the transition of beauty over the decades 1960's to 1990's in relation to today’s idea of beauty (Spring/Summer 2013).The use of the mannequin is to highlight the artificial nature of beauty.

 

Medium used: RZ67 Medium format camera, Phase 1.

Lighting: 1x main (Beauty dish at a 45degree angle of incidence) 1x Fill (Softbox) 2x Backlights (Softboxes). General use of large aperture to create that soft focus, emphasising in on key elements.

The Beginning

I can't say I am one for creating blogs, but I may as well give it a try :D

Graduating from university with a 1st class honours degree in photography; I can officially say I am a
fully qualified photographer ready to hit the big wide world.

Unknown to what my next step in this career may be, I am taking the time to build on my portfolio.
